Award Winning Millbrook Resort

Millbrook Resort is a high-profile award-winning five-star golf and lifestyle resort in Queenstown and is renowned for its quality residential neighbourhoods. QT Magazine spoke to director of property and development Ben O’Malley.

What premium property is currently available?

In recent years Millbrook’s development has been progressing in an orderly westward direction away from the resort centre and particularly around the new Mill Farm extension. Nine-new golf holes have been built on Mill Farm to now allow two dramatically diverse 18-hole golf experiences. Millbrook currently has stunning free hold building sites available at Mill Farm along with two-home and land packages at Ploughmans Lane and Settlers Way. The Ploughmans consists of two homes designed by Mason and Wales architects while New Settlers is a four-home development comprising  two pairs of two-storey duplexes nearing completion. Three have already sold off the plans.

Are there are other imminent developments planned at Millbrook?

Typically we have new developments on the drawing board and designs for three new home and land clusters are currently being developed at different locations within Mill Farm with the first expected to be released around April 2024.

Do Millbrook residents tend to invest in different neighbourhoods as they become available?

Trading up is a common practice at the resort. Often existing residents are early adopters of new releases having experienced the high quality of previous developments. Early off the plans prices tend to be excellent buying with sales prices increasing as the development nears completion. Capital gains have been significant over the years as Millbrook’s reputation continues to grow and the release of new stock to the market becomes more limited.

What are the main benefits of becoming a Millbrook resident?

Most properties are holiday homes however the number of permanent residents living at Millbrook is growing which adds a community feel to the resort. It is compulsory for residents to become members of the Millbrook Country Club giving them and their children up to 27 years of age access to facilities. These include two 18-hole golf courses, world-class practice and coaching amenities, comprehensive health and fitness facilities and tennis courts along with discounts to Millbrook’s restaurants and day spa.  The residential areas have private right of ways in a semi-gated community with beautifully groomed gardens and common areas where strict design guidelines provide for a high level of amenity. With easy access to both Arrowtown, Frankton and Queenstown combined with the Queenstown Trail running through Millbrook it is an ideal base within the Whakatipu Basin to live.
