Supreme Steakhouse Experience

Queenstown’s Jervois Steak House (JSH) in the Brecon Street dining quarter is the go to restaurant for the best steak in town.

“JSH is a true, authentic steak house offering an impressive line up of first-class meats sourced from some of the world’s best beef producers across New Zealand, Australia and Japan,” says restaurant manager Briony Holmes. “People come specifically for the steak and leave extremely happy – a common response from our diners is ‘that was the best steak I’ve ever had in my life.’”

The JSH menu has a multitude of options for diners with each table guided by a knowledgeable wait person.

“Our chefs harness the very best produce available such as the Signature Greenstone Creek King cut which restaurants have to be certified to serve. The Zen-Noah grain fed Miyazaki Scotch A5 from Japan that people come here specifically to experience, the Lake Ohau 200-day grain fed scotch or bavette cut and the South Island sourced Lumina lamb rack are also on the menu.”

Sharing cut options served at the table along with an inventive list of steak accompaniments, salads and side dishes such as the JSH truffle bacon mac ’n’ cheese, steak tartare and creamed spinach. Seafood, chicken and vegetarian dishes are also part of the mix.

“We truly believe in the products we serve and it’s our pleasure to share this dining experience with guests,” says Briony. “With so many different dishes available we very much focus on what will best suit each individual guest so that everybody enjoys something spectacular.”

Their personalised approach and genuine style of service is a hallmark of the JSH team.

“We often get repeat diners requesting specific waiters. Our entire team genuinely cares about our guests and provides consistency across everything we do from cocktails served in the downstairs bar to selecting fine wines for the table from the extensive cellar list.”

Private & exclusive

Jervois Steak House can be booked for exclusive hire for up to 120 people seated.

“We cater for specific occasions such as private events, weddings or business groups in a stylish and elegant setting in our location within the Sofitel complex,” says restaurant manager Briony Holmes. “Early bookings are required so we can plan for any special requirements such as music or theming.”

The restaurant also has a private dining room seating up to 16 guests which is available every night.

“The room offers an air of exclusivity with guests having the space entirely to themselves throughout the night. It’s very popular for friend gatherings, extended family groups and executive business catch ups.”
