Sharing the Secret

Passion for their Mondillo Vineyards, an inherent love of the environment and a desire to consistently produce exquisite wines are the drivers for Domenic and Ally Mondillo whose cellar door, set in the majestic and rugged Bendigo Station, is one of the region’s best kept secrets.

Domenic’s Italian heritage is steeped in many generations of cooking great food and making superb wine.  He relocated to New Zealand in 1981, owning two successful Queenstown restaurants before joining the wine industry in 1992. 

The Mondillo label creates award-winning sustainable wines from its single vineyard, specialising in Pinot Noir and Riesling grapes. 

“Our cellar door visits offer a tailored, personal experience hosted by the winemaker or viticulturist who have an intimate knowledge of the vineyard, Mondillo wines, Bendigo’s history and the Central Otago wine industry,” says Ally.

“A helicopter landing pad gives our guests the option to arrive by air at the cellar door which is a wonderful way to view the Central Otago landscape en route.” 

Mondillo is open Monday to Friday 10.00am until 3.00pm and weekends by appointment. All their current and previous vintages are available exclusively for purchase at the cellar door.
