Runners World at Kinisi

Wānaka store Kinisi is dedicated to all things athletic with owners Ian and Jane Evans on a mission to support the local running community.
“We felt there was a great opportunity for a specialised running store to provide excellence in advice, gear and motivation,” says Jane. “A place where people can feel welcome no matter where they are in their running journey.”
Kinisi is celebrating 12 months in business in January 2025 and boasts an established following.
“Based in Three Parks there is a view to the summit of Mt Iron from the store while drinking coffee on one of our incredibly comfortable couches. In fact the coffee machine and couches were the first things designed for the shop layout and the most important features we wanted to achieve.”
The store sells top quality brands such as Dynafit, La Sportiva, NNormal, Inov-8, Altra and New Balance along with nutrition products from Precision Fuel & Hydration and Pure Sports Nutrition.
“From running shoes and apparel to running vests, poles and sunglasses our goal is to be a one-stop-shop for runners’ needs. We even stock Ruffwear, a well-known and loved dog equipment brand for four-legged companions.”
Jane says the response to Kinisi has been overwhelmingly positive.
“The relaxed atmosphere and beautiful store layout have helped to make Kinisi unique alongside our selection of high-quality products. We really feel the love and support with incredible engagement for our weekly group runs and shop challenges. It’s a privilege to share this with so many people.”

What are Kinisi’s weekly social runs?
Our Monday Morning Coffee Run at 6.30am heads over Mt Iron and back to the shop for coffee before work. Thursday is Run 4 Fun, an easy four-kilometre social run staying on footpaths (no off trails or technical terrain) for beginners or anyone returning from injury or an extended period off. Fridays are Roy’s Peak Social where we all meet at 7.00am on the summit to run down together. Then there is our very social Sunday Long Run (now also dubbed Pastry Run) which aims for 17 – 21kilometres with a bakery pitstop. No bookings required, just come along and we’re always available via SM such as Instagram, Facebook and Strava for any questions.
What is the goal of Join the Movement?
Our vision was to create a shopping experience that differed from others with running and community being the focal point. We are part of a much bigger movement now having created a space where runners come to connect, create friendships and debrief races.
