A $23 million investment at The Remarkables Ski Area which includes the new Shadow Basin chairlift is a bonus for skiers and riders this winter opening up almost 50 percent more accessible terrain.

The six-seater Doppelmayer lift has boosted capacity from 1500 to 2400 people per hour and the ride takes less than four minutes compared to double the time on the original lift.

The project has also included a chair parking building, earthworks for new trails, new snowmaking installations, supporting environmental studies, monitoring and revegetation work.

The higher lift alignment has increased skiable terrain in Shadow Basin by 47 hectares and includes advanced and expert runs with the new 183-metre Cushion Trail leading to the Alta Chute. A further 363 metres has been added to the intermediate Calypso Trail.
