Coffee & Shopping at Five Mile

Five Mile continues to evolve as a leading retail and business hub in Queenstown with tourists returning in significant numbers and director Craig Greenwood says the past year has been busy particularly with the opening of Sudima, the centre’s the first major hotel.

“We’re delighted with the positive response to the hotel in our signature gateway building. We’re also still seeing huge demand at Five Mile for mixed use office space as people continue to choose Queenstown as a place where they want to live and work.”

Coffee haven

Home of arguably Queenstown’s best coffee Billy’s Bar Espresso has become a local’s favourite since opening at Christmas 2022.

Their superb coffees, tasty salmon bagels and homemade almond croissants fly out the door while resident café dogs Billy and Dave are always on hand to greet visitors.

“We’ve received such a warm welcome to Five Mile and Queenstown and love our new regulars. Our nitro cold brew has been a  big hit. It’s super smooth and silky and perfect for a hot day,” says owner Bevan Higginson.

Billy’s is the go-to spot for a pre-work coffee or shopping break with plenty of parking and just a short walk through the Sudima Hotel walkway.

Simply the Best

Five Mile retailer Bed Bath & Beyond displays one of the best bedding, kitchenware and home décor ranges in Queenstown.

As New Zealand’s only specialist retailer of linen and Manchester the company recognised the opportunity early on to  meet the needs of the Central Otago market, opening its doors at Five Mile in 2017.  Since, the pioneering store has been a consistent performer building a loyal customer base around the region.

Regional manager Mandy Saunders says they have an exceptional sales team who are passionate about what they do.

“The staff have incredible product knowledge and build fantastic relationships with customers who inevitably turn into repeat clients. Many customers buy for home staging and interior design and we always receive excellent feedback on how helpful and friendly our people are.”

Mandy says  Five Mile is the ideal location and they could not imagine Bed Bath & Beyond being based anywhere else.

“The centre has a great retail mix which attracts a variety of customers and being so central, easily accessible and having plenty of parking is key.”
